This is a new opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join Bournemouth West Community Mental Health Team, Based at Hahnemann House in Bournemouth. We are looking for a full-time (10PA per week) consultant, with part time candidates also considered and encouraged to apply.

The postholder will join the Trust at an exciting time, as we build on our Outstanding CQC rating and start work with newly formed Primary Care Networks, to further develop mental health services that meet the needs of local communities. Bournemouth West CMHT is well-established and has excellent relationships with other services.

  • Main duties of the job

    We are seeking a resilient psychiatrist who can work as part of a team and willing to work with a range of complex and difficult psychiatric conditions. This post would be an ideal fit for someone who is interested in research and developing and growing our service alongside the service manager and team leader.

    The base, Hahnemann House is a Hub for several other services including, Assertive Outreach East, Acute Day Services, Homeless Health Services, Recovery Education Centre, Veteran’s service and a Retreat drop in (out of Hours).

    Hahnemann House is in the centre of Bournemouth, a few minutes’ walk from the beaches and all the amenities in the town centre. The coastline around Bournemouth and the wider area is an area of great natural beauty and vibrant local culture and offers a fantastic work-life balance.

    Essential

  • General medical Qualification e.g. MBBS, or equivalent and hold a Licence to Practise.
  • MRCPsych or recognised equivalent, e.g. membership of a psychiatry college in another country.
  • Desirable

  • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
  • Additional clinical qualification.
  • Eligibility
    Essential

  • Must be in possession or within 6 months of possession of a CCT in Psychiatry or on Specialist Register in Psychiatry.
  • On Specialist Register in General Adult Psychiatry.
  • Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician approval or ability to obtain approval before starting post.
  • Desirable

  • Experience of medicine outside psychiatry e.g. general practice, medicine.
  • Clinical Skills, Knowledge & Experience
    Essential

  • Excellent knowledge in specialty.
  • Evidence of effective multidisciplinary team involvement.
  • Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wider medical knowledge.
  • Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA.
