Prospectus is delighted to be partnering with The Hg Foundation as they seek to appoint a dynamic Programme Manager, working to remove barriers to education and skills in the technology sector. This role is offered on hybrid basis split between home working and 1-2 days in the central London office.
At all levels, and across the globe, there are significant skill shortages in the technology sector. At the same time, some groups (especially women and girls, those from low-income backgrounds and from certain ethnic groups) are far less likely to gain good tech-relevant qualifications and access jobs in the sector. The Hg Foundation’s vision is that the tech workforce of the future harnesses the talents of all, regardless of background. To achieve this, they help underrepresented groups to access high quality jobs in tech by supporting education and employment programmes across the UK, Europe and US.
This is an exciting new role in a young, growing and ambitious Foundation and the incoming Programme Manager will be joining at a critical time; it has established processes and strategies in place, but remains very much in ‘start up’ mode as it continues to expand. There is a major opportunity to influence and shape this role and with it, the future of the Foundation. You will work closely with the CEO of the Foundation and have high level contact with all the major stakeholders. The Programme Manager will be a key liaison point with the Foundation’s charity partners across the UK, Europe and North America and other s, such as research agencies, academics and sector leaders. You will ensure existing programmes are well maintained alongside growing networks, engaging and researching new potential partners, capturing knowledge and insight and working to embed robust and effective impact and evaluation methodologies. The Programme Manager will also be an influential voice in defining the Foundation’s future priorities and ways of working. You will lead on a diverse set of projects and tasks and bring an entrepreneurial and proactive approach to the role.
The right candidate could come from a range of backgrounds. The role would suit someone with experience in the education and non-profit sectors, or a highly motivated person looking for a career change and wanting to make a positive impact on the lives of underrepresented communities. Essential to this role will be the ability to learn and iterate, ensuring that things are well planned and tasks are completed. With a track record of managing partnerships and budgets, you will thrive in cultivating collaborative working relationships and will hold the ability to shape and influence the conversation. Although not essential, knowledge of the education sector in the UK, US or Europe, knowledge of the issues around recruiting diverse talent and/or knowledge of the tech sector are desirable.
Prospectus welcomes candidates from a diverse range of backgrounds. Please let us know if we can help you with the application process in any way. We are more than happy to make any reasonable adjustments to enable all interested candidates to apply.
If you are interested in applying to this position, please submit your CV in the first instance. If your experience is suitable, we will send you the full job description and will arrange for a call and/or meeting.
