Our Caerphilly Move On service has opportunity for a Housing intervention officer to join their team. This is opportunity to make a real difference to those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and require housing related support. This team goes in and works on any Crisis work with any client and covers a drop in service for Housing Support with Shelter, DWP and Community Hubs. You could be working with incredible individuals to teach them tenancy management skills or benefit maximisation. What is great about the role?

Our Caerphilly Move On service works with individuals 18 or over to prevent them from being homeless. You would be working with a variety of people to empower them to achieve their goals and live independently. Your role would be to ensure that clients are empowered to manage their own tenancies or understand the process if going through homelessness as well as benefit applications.

Location: Caerphilly

Work Pattern: Hours are between Monday to Friday days, but full flexibility is required to meet the needs of the people we support.

We have a blended approach to the support we deliver, and this can include working from home via the phone and video call, our offices, in peoples home and the local community within the Caerphilly area.

For this role you will be required to drive and have access to a vehicle, and you will also require an Enhanced DBS check, which we pay for.

Day to Day Duties:

As a Housing Interventions Officer your day will consist of:

  • Empowering the people, we support to take control of their own lives by giving them the skills they need
  • Providing housing advice and supporting with welfare benefit applications and queries to maximise income for the people we support
  • Teaching tenancy management skills such as budgeting and addressing debts
  • Liaising with external agencies such as alcohol or substance misuse services or mental health services
  • Managing your own caseload ensuring that all tasks are completed timely and accurately
  • Holding housing advice surgeries for residents of Caerphilly Borough
  • Our aim is to ensure we equip these individuals with the knowledge and tools they need to manage their home independently. You will work with a range of different personalities and behaviours so you will need to be able to adapt your approach to engage with a diverse cliental. You will also need to have extensive experience in providing housing advice especially relating to the application of welfare benefits.
