Jobs for Extroverts

Extroverts are known for their outgoing and gregarious nature. Socialising and interacting with others recharges their batteries and they typically thrive in a personal or professional group setting. This means that the best jobs for extroverts are those which place them in dynamic environments surrounded by other people.

Unlike introverts who tend to feel more at ease on their own, extroverts are ‘people people’. They’ll more often than not be the centre of attention in social gatherings. They don’t mind public speaking and enjoy attending events or other group activities. Extroverts prefer to talk through their ideas and thoughts with peers, as opposed to introverts who’d rather quietly reflect alone.

These personality traits lend very well to a large number of jobs across a variety of sectors. Of course, career changers may find it necessary to do some retraining before they can apply for these roles. Nevertheless, your people skills as an extrovert will make the interview process go a lot more smoothly.

Jobs For Extroverted People

While there is no shortage of jobs for extroverts, we’ve compiled a list of some of the best jobs for extroverts based on their responsibilities and daily tasks.

Sales Person

Salespeople represent the company they work for, selling products or services to their customers. A huge part of sales is based on human interaction and building trust and relationships with their customers. Extroverts thrive in this kind of situation as these interactions tend to give them more energy and greater motivation.

The best salespeople have excellent communication and strong persuasive skills. They’re comfortable working to targets and are hard-working self-starters.

Teacher

For those extroverts who want to make a difference in the lives of learners, a job as a teacher could be a perfect fit. You can expect lots of public speaking, daily interaction with others, and working to motivate learners to do their best.

There are numerous paths to becoming a teacher and a variety of different subjects that can be taught. There are even ways to become a teaching assistant with no experience, which is a great way to get a taste of what’s involved before fully committing.

Event Planner

Event planners are in charge of organising special events, such as weddings, parties, or award ceremonies. They need to be highly organised and creative with impeccable time management and communication skills. Using their negotiation and people skills to find the best prices for their clients, event planners must also ensure that the event runs smoothly and that the client’s needs are met.

A bachelor’s degree in event management would be necessary as well as hands-on experience in planning and executing events.

Customer Service Representative

If you enjoy working with the public, then a job in customer service could be just for you. You’ll frequently interact with the general public offering support and assistance to customers with queries, complaints, and problems they may have. Customer service representatives have excellent communication skills and are capable of remaining calm and patient under pressure. They are great problem-solvers who can think on their feet.

One of the benefits of a career as a customer service representative is that there are both in-person and remote options available. This is a real plus if you need to work around existing commitments. A university degree is not necessary, with most employers providing on-the-job training.

Occupational Therapist

An occupational therapist (or OT) is a healthcare professional who helps patients who have trouble carrying out their daily activities. This may be due to old age, illness, trauma, or disability. Using their excellent people skills and positive nature, you’ll help people overcome a variety of challenges in their day-to-day lives so that they can be more independent. This can include learning new ways to do things or altering their home environment to make things easier for the patient.

To become an occupational therapist, you’ll need to complete a three-year, full-time degree or six years part-time. Nonetheless, it’s an incredibly rewarding career for extroverts who want to help others.
